2.x branches

With 1.x there are several branches which are still maintained in parallel: At least 1.3 and 1.2. But what about the 2.x branches? Will 2.1 replace 2.0? Or will 2.1 and 2.0 coexist?

Background of my question: I'm planning to bring CakePHP 2.x into FreeBSD's ports tree. But may I have a single port for all 2.x versions? This would make it easy to update from 2.0 to 2.1 to 2.2 etc. But it will be confusing if 2.0 and 2.1 will remain separate versions. Or I could make it a 2.0 port and add later a 2.1 port. But then an update from 2.0 to 2.1 cannot be done automatically.

2.1 will replace 2.0, and 2.2 will replace 2.1 in the near future
